7 Ways to Keep Your AC Running Efficiently in a Dubai Summer

In Dubai your air conditioner works harder than almost any other appliance you own — often for eight months of the year. A few simple habits make a real difference to how well it cools, how long it lasts and how much it costs to run.

01

Set the thermostat to 24°C

Every degree lower makes the unit work noticeably harder. 24°C is comfortable for most homes and is the setting widely recommended in the UAE for saving energy.

02

Clean the filters every month

A clogged filter chokes airflow, so the AC runs longer to cool the same room. Slide the filters out, rinse them under a tap, let them dry and put them back.

03

Keep doors, windows and curtains closed

Cool air escapes quickly, and direct afternoon sun through glass heats a room fast. Close blinds or curtains on sun-facing windows during the day.

04

Do not block the vents

Furniture, curtains or boxes in front of supply and return vents stop air circulating. Leave them clear so the room cools evenly.

05

Use Auto fan mode

Auto lets the fan rest once the room reaches temperature. Leaving the fan on constantly uses more power and can push humid air back into the room.

06

Watch for early warning signs

Water dripping indoors, a musty smell, weak airflow or the unit switching on and off rapidly are all signs something needs attention before it becomes a breakdown.

07

Book a service before summer

A professional service — coils washed, drain line flushed, gas pressure checked — ahead of the hot months is the single best way to avoid a failure in July.
